4 months old

this happy little boy is four months old!

Blake had his well-baby checkup today. he weighs 15 pounds 5 ounces (58th percentile) and is 26.3 inches long (90th percentile). he got one shot, but i don’t think he even knew it happened. the nurse and i were looking at each other waiting for him to cry, but we never got a reaction from him. such a tough guy!

and while we were at the doctor, Ryan spent the morning playing with Gramma Angela.

playing w/ Matteo

my mom, Gramma Sally (or Zoie, as Ryan calls her), the boys and i met Aunt Treacy and Matteo (who live in Pasadena) in Ventura for lunch and some play time. we went to some place called the Clubhouse Fun Zone. Ryan and Matteo had a lot of fun!

playing in the ball pit, or whatever it’s called...

on a fun little “rollercoaster” ride...

playing air hockey...

checking each other out...
Blake had fun, too :)

chef Ryan

i feel like i don’t do much fun stuff with Ryan lately, especially when we’re at home, because Blake needs/gets a lot of attention. so i’m trying to make better use of the times when Blake is sleeping. i asked Ryan if he wanted to bake some cookies for Tim, and he got really excited! i put his little apron on him, he sat up on the kitchen counter (with the help of Aunt Jen), and we got to work! Ryan had never helped me in the kitchen before, so he was very curious and interested. it was pretty cute. :)

sneaking a taste...
waiting, and waiting, and waiting for the cookies to bake...

and the taste test. happy boy with his cookie!

beach day

the first beach day of the year. yay! we went up to Port San Luis to visit my parents while they were up there in their trailer. it wasn’t hot enough to go in the water, but we had fun running around and playing in the sand.

self-portraits

apparently Ryan figured out how to take pictures of himself. i found these on my phone:

Pismo Beach

my mom, the boys and i went for a walk in Pismo Beach.

the highlight of Ryan’s day:
we accidentally ended up at the monarch butterfly grove. i couldn’t get any good pictures of the butterflies; all i had was the camera on my iphone. Ryan thought they were pretty cool though.

the highlight of my day:
we saw a lady wearing some ski pants at the beach.

catching up

i haven’t posted anything in awhile. i guess two little boys can keep you pretty busy. so here is what we’ve been up to...

Blake was a skeleton for Halloween, and Ryan was a pirate. the boys are still too young to go trick-or-treating in my book. and i don’t think Ryan even knows what candy is. so we went to visit their grandparents. somebody had to see them in their silly outfits other than Tim and me.

Ryan played in the pool in Palm Springs on a trip with my family.

Blake turned 2 months old!

Ryan and Blake grew mustaches. (these are the only somewhat decent pictures i have from Thanksgiving. haha.)

we took the boys to the Christmas parade. it was pretty cold, so they got nice and bundled up. Blake obviously didn’t even know he was at a parade, but Ryan loved it (until the big semi trucks honked their horns right in front of us. that freaked him out.)! he was very serious, watching everything go by. he waved and yelled hi almost the whole time.

some Christmastime pictures...

Ryan practiced planking.

after seeing how excited Ryan got at the parade, we walked to the Orcutt Christmas parade. i think his favorite part of the whole thing was the blue candy cane he got.
Christmas eve at Gramma Sally’s...

Ryan had to try on his new rain boots at Gramma Janie and Grampa Bob’s on Christmas Day.

Blake is still a super happy baby! and he’s a great sleeper, too. he’s been going 8-12 hours between feedings at night. it’s pretty awesome.

Ryan is still a great big brother. of course! he likes to give Blake kisses and tell him good morning and goodnight. other than that, Ryan doesn’t give Blake much attention. it works out well. for an almost-2 year old, he’s such a good little boy!

well, except for the whole pulling-his-pants-and-diaper-off thing. i’m still not quite sure what to do about that. luckily, it doesn’t happen too often and i still find it kind of funny.

p.s. these pictures are driving me nuts. i know they’re all jacked up, but i can’t get them to go where i want. i guess i need to learn how to use this thing. i’m not usually this computer-stupid. maybe someone can tell me how to fix it. or how to make those little photo collage deals.
